Accommodation
There is not much accommodation on Thursday Island, and no camping facilities. It is best to book in advance. Try the Jardine Motel, phone (07) 4069 1555. www.jardinemotel.com.au
For the mainland, why not have a look at www.loyaltybeach.com and www.punsand.com.au.
A bit of luxury can be found at Poruma (Coconut) Island resort, go to www.poruma.com.
Transport
For a great helicopter flight, contact Cape York Helicopters on (07) 4093 0250 or look them up at www.capeyorkhelicopters.com
There are a number of plane services available as well.
Fishing
A lot of people come up to the northern reaches of Australia to test out their fishing skills. A local guide gives you the best chance! There are plenty available. For a Thursday Island based charter, try Tony’s Island Adventures, phone (07) 4069 1965.
Driving
The best information on road conditions is obviously RACQ. They update the road conditions on the cape regularly. www.racq.com.au
